From there it's scanning, enumeration, and vulnerability assessment — identifying live hosts, open ports, running services, and known weaknesses before you ever attempt to exploit anything. You'll use Metasploit for controlled exploitation in a legal lab environment, crack weak passwords with John the Ripper, and see how wireless networks get compromised using Aircrack-ng.
